Happy Potter
Hrnčírna yes that is the proper name of the studio and project of Petr Jurníček from Zbýšov near Brno, who is an unorthodox rebel in his field. At the age of eighteen, this trained mechanic decided to completely change his career and study with the academic sculptor Roman Wenzel with the aim of becoming an artist. Since then, Petr Jurníček has not left the potter's wheel and often worked together with famous potters such as Steve Fullmer, Owen Barttlet, Anna Barnnet or Barry Brick.
Petr Jurníček's organic style – manifested mainly by firing his ceramics on wood (as opposed to a gas or electric kiln) and also the fruits of his Hrnčírna project – is strongly inspired by nature. His plates, bowls, cups and other especially crystalline containers often look as if they grew somewhere in the middle of the forest completely without human intervention. That is why Petr does not follow any fashion trends and his works are completely timeless and natural just like the trees in the forest. His customers include small bistros and teahouses (he is a passionate teaholic), as well as luxury restaurants or five-star hotels. As an artist, he enjoys it the most when the people who enjoy his creations are, as he says, "on the same wavelength" (nonchalance and rebellion).
